Library Instruction Information
The CCC Library staff provide a variety of instruction services to help students learn to identify, obtain, evaluate and document print and electronic information sources for their research projects.
Types of instruction include classroom instruction, tutorials, research guides, and assignment tipsheets.
Classroom Instruction
To schedule classroom instruction, contact the Reference Desk at x2290.
Library instruction sessions are usually held in the Library's classroom, D112, for ready access to the materials discussed. D112 is a smart classroom, with 12 laptops computers for hands-on activities. However, if electronic resources are the focus of the session, we will be happy to bring our presentation to your (smart) classroom.
Classroom instruction sessions are tailored to faculty requests, but generally fall into these categories:
- Orientation Session
- For students new to the CCC Library.
- Introduction to Library Research Session
- For students new to the CCC Library who are beginning a specific research task.
- Term Paper Research Session
- For students about to embark on research for a major term paper
- Resources for Specific Subjects or Assignments
- Discussion / demonstration of our best resources and search strategies for researching a specific subject area (e.g., biology, anthropology, literary criticism...) or tips for completing a specific assignment (e.g., tracking down a primary source article).
