2008 Season
July 10-27 See How They Run directed by Merril Lynn Taylor This classic British farce has left audiences exhausted with laughter since it debuted in London in 1944. Set in an English vicarage during World War II, the show includes an American actor, his ex-girlfriend who is now married to the vicar, a confused maid, a German spy, a drunken church busybody and a harried police officer left trying to determine which of the four men in clergymen's suits is the real thing. Of the 2006 London revival one critic enthused: "People are in a near constant state of collapse and that's just the audience. See How They Run induces a state of delirium comparable only to Noises Off."
August 7-24 Swinging on a Star: The Johnny Burke Musical 1996 Tony Award Best Musical Nominee! directed by Karlyn Love Based on the fabulous lyrics of Johnny Burke, this "dazzling, toe-tapping, finger-snapping delight" of a musical revue features over 40 tunes including such classics as "Pennies From Heaven," "What's New," "Imagination," "Misty," "Here's That Rainy Day," and Academy Award-winning "Swinging on a Star." The songs, performed by seven singer/actor/dancers, are perfectly woven into scenes and settings, including a 1920's speakeasy, a World War II USO tour and a Paramount pictures studio where Bob Hope and Bing Crosby are filming their "Road Show" pictures.
"A brazen, infectious delight" - NY Times "A winner! You'll have a ball! Grab the chance to swing on this star.!" NY Post
September 25-October 12 Waiting for Godot directed by David Smith-English Hilariously funny, but also terribly sad, Waiting for Godot is a twentieth century absurdist masterpiece by Nobel Prize-winning playwright Samuel Beckett. In this brilliant, bitter comedy, Beckett's two clowns pass the time by making sport of their circumstances, talking like vaudeville comedians and attempting to perform tricks. While they often threaten to leave, they never do, clinging to the hope that Godot may arrive and reveal to them the mysteries of life. This timeless classic continues to resonate strongly with audiences, as recent productions in post-Katrina New Orleans and Sarajevo during the Bosian War attest. "One of the true masterpieces of the twentieith century." NY Times
